I am so excited to announce a project that I’ve been working on for quite a while now. I am now bringing my 25 years of experience to a new format: online speech therapy. This is exciting for quite a few reasons. First, teletherapy allows me to realize a dream of incorporating a more family-focused approach to speech and language therapy. My goal is to work with families to develop measurable goals that are attainable, and then to help families to incorporate targeted strategies to help their child reach those goals.
Another reason that I am really looking forward to this service delivery model is that I have seen such a need in my travels, and I am really looking forward to working with other families that need a very flexible schedule. Of course, you don’t have to be a full-time traveler to appreciate flexibility. Today’s families are active and involved. Driving to speech therapy appointments is just one more thing to clutter the already over-full schedule. Online therapy is convenient and finds you where you are. Plus, research shows that online speech therapy is effective and engaging.
That flexibility for clients is also a plus at my end. I enjoy family time. Commuting is now simpler than ever, and that frees up more time for me to spend with my own family, including my own son who has Down syndrome.
Reasons that people try online speech therapy are varied and include:
- Need summer therapy while school is out
- Long term traveler
- Live abroad where services are not available
If you are interested, please check out my online speech therapy page. Fill out the form, send me your information, and I’ll get back to you with more information about what services are available for your child.
If you are in the United States, please note that I am licensed in several states, and I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Because licensing laws vary from state to state, I do have to determine your state and verify laws for that state before we can commence. If I am not able to provide services to you directly, I may be able to have another SLP within my network help your child meet their potential.
